Cultural Events Festivals To look forward To This 2022

Did you know that the Gold Coast is hosting a slew of exciting events in 2022? If you’re planning to visit the Gold Coast and take part in the festivities, mark your calendars because here’s a quick guide!

Carnivale at Sea World

There’s no need to cross the globe because Sea World’s Carnivale is back! The theme park will be filled with music inspired by Mexico, Rio, Africa, and New Orleans. You also get to enjoy a Mexican Fiesta Feast, a Southern Snack Pack, and more delectable flavours and refreshing beverages inspired by international chefs are all here.

Aside from these, the festival will debut a new Aqua Lightshow that will be bigger, brighter, and taller than ever before. The aquatic show will be set against the backdrop of the Sea World Lake sky. Make a point of stopping by Sea World’s Affinity Stadium for a great Affinity by Night show.

That’s not all! At the festival night, Sea World has prepared some attractions and displays for you to enjoy. The Sea Jellies Illuminated display, Polar Bear Shores, and Shark Bay are all worth seeing at night. You can also enjoy rides at the Nickelodeon Land like the Bikini Bottom Crosstown Express, Donatello’s Ninja Flyers, Dora’s Fiesta Carousel, and more. The Castaway Bay – The Reef and the Castaway Bay Battle Boats are also open. You can also ride the Jet Rescue Coaster, Storm Coaster, or the Vortex, a brand-new 15-meter-high swinging attraction, for the ultimate excitement.

Carnivale at Sea World is set on January 29 to February 26 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Marketta Street Food‘s Brazilian Carnaval

Marketta Street Food is a public laneway dining experience every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night, with food sellers from all over the world in one location. Yes, you can order a Spanish appetizer, a Thai main course, French desserts and more. Marketta Street Food also features fantastic live music and other events, such as the Brazilian Carnaval on February 6.

Everyone can join in the celebration of Brazilian culture, including music, dance, art, cuisine, drinks, games, and more. There are no age limits, but you must purchase your tickets in advance. The Chinese New Year with The Queens is another event to look forward to. At Drag Bingo GC & Miami Marketta, you will learn about the Lunar New Year’s rich cultural history! The event is set earlier on February 2.

Cupid’s Undie Run

The 1.5-kilometre fun run, now in its tenth year, continues to raise awareness of Neurofibromatosis (NF). It is a nerve system genetic disease. It primarily impacts the formation and growth of nerve cells. It causes nerve tumours to proliferate.

The party begins after the 1.5-kilometre Cupid’s Undie Run. Check-in, get a free drink and snack, play some undie-themed games, and see if you won the event’s most coveted prize: the Gold Coast’s Best Dressed Cupid. Tickets include a pair of Cupid’s Undies as well as a drink and meal after the race. The funds raised will go to the Children’s Tumour Foundation, which will help the 10,000 children and adults living with Neurofibromatosis and their families and fund critical research into new treatments. Let’s Go Gold Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo

On the 4th and 6th of March, the Gold Coast’s largest caravanning festival returns to Metricon Stadium. If you’re seeking an economical camper trailer or a family caravan, then Let’s Go Gold Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo is for you. Prepare to see the newest caravans, motorhomes, campervans, camper/tent trailers, and slide-ons on display. There will also be a large selection of 4x4s and tow vehicles, as well as 4×4 equipment and accessories. Other products will be on show throughout the three-day event.

Beyond the Sand

From March 12 to 20, Beyond the Sand, formerly known as the Sand Safari Arts Festival, will transform Surfers Paradise into a beachfront gallery. The free multi-media arts festival will bring large-scale, bold pieces from the gallery to the beach for those nine days, highlighting an outstanding class of national and international artists. Around Surfers Paradise, there will also be other larger-than-life art displays and entertainment.

Local circus entertainers, including unicyclists, jugglers, and stilt walkers, will put on a fantastic show for festival visitors. Talented local DJs such as Sharks Llyod, Cory Hotline, Just Jessie, and DiskoDisco will be gracing the festival with some great tracks from local artists. A variety of Sand Art interactive craft activities will also be offered during the event if you are interested.

Take note, Beyond the Sand promotes a friendly and fun environment for all. A COVID Safe Plan is set, and the festival team will continue to monitor any changes to restrictions.

Gold Coast Film Festival

The Gold Coast Film Festival (GCFF) will take place from April 20 to May 1 and feature over 100 films, panels, and pop-up activities. A pop-up outdoor cinema, as well as intimate seminars and workshops by Australia’s top producers, writers, and directors, are part of the 12-day festival.

In addition to premiere film events, international cinema, a gala awards ceremony, and the festival’s first-ever online program, there will be a rooftop cinema, poolside flicks at QT Gold Coast, and outdoor movies in a brewery.
